MIA BYRNES

MIA BRACE (formally Byrnes)

Classical Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and ACRO Teacher

Born and raised in Nelson Bay, Mia danced locally at a small studio before pursuing my dreams of becoming a professional ballet dancer here in Newcastle at National College of Dance.

Mia went on to train in Queensland at Atelier Australia under the direction of Heidi Landford and Prudence Bowen.

Mia’s professional career began at 19 with The Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada where we performed the original works of our Artistic director, Igor Dobrovolskiy both nationally and internationally.

While her career came to a halt with the pandemic interrupting the company season, the opportunity to begin teaching presented itself while in Canada where she discovered my love and passion for technique. After teaching private classical coaching here in Australia over the last few years between contracts and choreographing and training all styles whilst in Canada, her love of teaching has bought me back to the place my professional training started, here in Newcastle at the National College of Dance.
