Born and raised in Nelson Bay, Mia began her dance journey at a small local studio before following her passion to the National College of Dance (NCD) in Newcastle. It was here that Mia laid the foundation of her professional training, and to this day, she remains deeply committed to embodying the legacy of NCD in every class she teaches.
Mia’s pursuit of excellence in dance took her from the heart of Newcastle to Queensland, where she trained at Atelier Australia under the expert direction of Heidi Landford and Prudence Bowen. She then launched her professional career at 19 with The Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada, where she performed both nationally and internationally in the original works of Artistic Director Igor Dobrovolskiy.
Though the pandemic temporarily halted her performance career, it opened the door to teaching—a passion that Mia had discovered during her time in Canada. She began teaching private classical coaching and choreographing in a variety of styles. Over the past few years, Mia has taught dance in both Australia and Canada, continually refining her teaching methodology and inspiring her students with her deep understanding of technique and artistry.
In 2024, Mia achieved a major milestone in her career when, after getting through 3 days of call backs, she was selected out of over 1,000 applicants to attend the prestigious, invite-only Rockettes Fundamentals program. Becoming a Rockette has long been her dream, and this recognition marks a significant step towards achieving that goal.
Mia’s dedication to the art of dance is reflected in her commitment to both her students and the traditions of the National College of Dance. With every class she teaches, she strives to instill not only technical excellence but also a love for the artistry and discipline that has shaped her own journey. As a teacher at NCD, Mia is proud to carry forward the legacy of the college, inspiring the next generation of dancers with the same passion and dedication that first ignited her own path.
