NCD - Supporting your dancers health performance workshop » support

As part of NCD Wellness Month, we are delighted to invite you to an evening with Dr Tracey Kelty from the University of Newcastle.

Evidence-Based Nutritional Guidance for Parents of a young Dancer

As parents, we all want to provide the very best support for our children to give them a great start to develop a strong healthy body. Research consistently shows that there are many factors that influence the eating habits of an adolescent and while they are living at home this is once setting that is vitally important to establish healthy, evidence based lifelong health behaviours.

This workshop has been designed to provide dance parents with practical, evidence-based information to help support their adolescent dancer to promote healthy eating behaviours that foster growth and development for dance performance throughout these important developmental years.

Dr Tracey Kelty is an academic in Health and Physical Education at the University of Newcastle. For many years, she has worked alongside National College of Dance, delivering anatomy and nutrition education to our full-time vocational students.  In addition, has the lived experience of being a parent of a professional ballet dancer, Dr Kelty also understands firsthand the unique demands placed on dancers and their dance families. Combining her extensive research with lived experience, she will share practical, evidence-based strategies to help parents confidently support the health, wellbeing and performance of their young dancer at home.
