DESCRIPTION:Spellbound: Creating the World of Sleeping Beauty\nStep into an enchanted kingdom where dance\, drama and storytelling come together. \nDesigned to complement dance training\, Spellbound encourages young performers to connect movement with emotion\, intention and storytelling\, bringing greater depth and expression to their dancing. \nPresented in collaboration with Tantrum Youth Arts\, Spellbound invites young performers to explore the magical world of Sleeping Beauty. \nThroughout this exciting one-day holiday workshop\, participants will discover how performers bring fairies\, royalty\, villains and magical creatures to life using voice\, emotion\, gesture and storytelling. SUMMARY:NCD - Supporting your dancers health performance workshop
DESCRIPTION:As part of NCD Wellness Month\, we are delighted to invite you to an evening with Dr Tracey Kelty from the University of Newcastle. \nEvidence-Based Nutritional Guidance for Parents of a young Dancer\nAs parents\, we all want to provide the very best support for our children to give them a great start to develop a strong healthy body. Research consistently shows that there are many factors that influence the eating habits of an adolescent and while they are living at home this is once setting that is vitally important to establish healthy\, evidence based lifelong health behaviours. \nThis workshop has been designed to provide dance parents with practical\, evidence-based information to help support their adolescent dancer to promote healthy eating behaviours that foster growth and development for dance performance throughout these important developmental years. \nDr Tracey Kelty is an academic in Health and Physical Education at the University of Newcastle. For many years\, she has worked alongside National College of Dance\, delivering anatomy and nutrition education to our full-time vocational students.  In addition\, has the lived experience of being a parent of a professional ballet dancer\, Dr Kelty also understands firsthand the unique demands placed on dancers and their dance families. Combining her extensive research with lived experience\, she will share practical\, evidence-based strategies to help parents confidently support the health\, wellbeing and performance of their young dancer at home. \nDate: Tuesday 25 August\nTime: 6:30 pm\nVenue: National College of Dance \nDuring the evening\, Dr Kelty will explore the following areas:\n\nEvidence based nutritional needs of adolescent dancers\nNutritional facts and misinformation\nThe importance of macro-nutrients and micro-nutrients for dancers\nGuide to food and fluid choices for life\, training and performance.\nMedical and scientific support for dancers\nReliable sources of information to support health and wellbeing\nSupporting health\, growth and performance through everyday food choices\nStrategies for planning what to eat on the go! Including practical ideas for busy dance families to implement\n\nPlease note: This workshop is designed specifically for parents and carers.
