SUMMARY:2027 Australian Classical Challenge Entry
DESCRIPTION:We are currently planning entries for dancers who may be interested in competing in the Australian Classical Challenge (ACC) in 2027. \nThe Newcastle ACC will be held from Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 February 2027 and includes both Classical Ballet and Contemporary divisions. \nAge divisions and Newcastle entry fees are determined by the dancer’s age on 1 January 2027: \nJunior\, 8–10 years: $230 per division\nPre-Intermediate\, 11–12 years: $240 per division\nIntermediate\, 13–14 years: $260 per division\nSenior\, 15–19 years: $280 per division \nA booking fee also applies to all registrations. Dancers entering both Classical Ballet and Contemporary will need to pay the entry fee for each division. \nWe would also like to know which dancers may be interested in attending the ACC event in Canberra in 2027. \nIndicate whether they would like to attend: \nACC Newcastle in February\nACC Canberra\nBoth events \nPlease also advise whether they would like to enter the Classical Ballet division\, Contemporary division or both. \nAll required entry information must then be completed and returned to NCD by Friday 11 September. We will be submitting our early entries to ACC on 30 September\, and we cannot guarantee that late requests can be included. \nPlease read the attached ACC Entry Conditions before requesting an entry. Dancers entering both Classical Ballet and Contemporary must pay the applicable entry fee for each division.\n\nAvailability and attendance\n\nDancers must be available for all required classes\, rehearsals and performances across the four-day event.\n\nParents agree for students to attend all pre-event rehearsals in the January leading up to the event. \n\nClassical entrants must:\n\nAttend the preliminary ballet class.\nPerform their classical solo or variation.\nAttend all required Grande Défilé rehearsals.\nPerform in the Grande Défilé during the Sunday finals.\nAttend any additional classes\, rehearsals and performances if selected as a semi-finalist or finalist.\n\nContemporary entrants must:\n\nAttend the preliminary contemporary class.\nPerform their contemporary solo.\nAttend any additional classes\, rehearsals and performances if selected as a semi-finalist or finalist.\nClassical requirements\nJunior and Pre-Intermediate dancers may perform a classical solo of up to two minutes or a variation from the approved repertoire list.\nIntermediate and Senior dancers must perform a variation from the approved Classical Ballet Repertoire list.\nJunior dancers are not permitted to perform pointe work.\nDancers must follow ACC’s costume and classwear requirements.\nAll Classical entrants must participate in the Grande Défilé.\nContemporary requirements\nJunior and Pre-Intermediate solos must not exceed two minutes.\nIntermediate and Senior solos must not exceed two and a half minutes.\nDancers may perform their own choice of choreography and music with an appropriate costume.\nSemi-finalists must learn and rehearse the choreography provided by a member of the judging panel.\nDancers must follow ACC’s classwear and rehearsal requirements.\nStudent status\n\nAll entrants must hold student status. An entrant must not have been paid to perform as a dancer for more than 10 weeks in one calendar year.\n\nMusic\n\nMusic must be supplied according to ACC’s instructions and clearly labelled with the entrant’s number\, name and variation or solo title.\n\nPhotography and filming\n\nAll performances will be officially filmed and photographed. ACC reserves the right to use photographs from the event in current and future promotional material.\n\nNo other photography or filming is permitted inside the theatre.\n\nProgram changes\n\nThe published event schedule is a guide only and is subject to change. Families are responsible for ensuring that dancers remain available for any amended call times\, classes\, rehearsals or performances.\n\nJudging\n\nThe judging panel’s decisions are final\, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding those decisions.\n\nNCD deadlines\nAll required entry information must be completed and returned to NCD by Friday 11 September 2026.\nNCD will submit its early entries to ACC on 30 September 2026.\nNCD cannot guarantee that late or incomplete entry requests will be accepted by ACC.\n\nAll ACC entry fees and workshop fees must be paid prior to 30th September for the Entry to be submitted by NCD\n\nBy asking NCD to prepare and submit an entry\, the dancer and their parent or guardian confirm that they have read\, understood and accepted these conditions.
