Join us in celebrating our 50th Anniversary of Dance Excellence: The National College of Dance’s Golden Anniversary Gala
We invite everyone, from former families, students and teachers to dance enthusiasts and supporters, to join us for this unforgettable celebration.
Saturday 7th December at the beautiful Civic Theatre Newcastle at 7pm
The National College of Dance is thrilled to announce the Golden 50th Anniversary Gala, a spectacular celebration honouring five decades of dance, dedication and artistic excellence. This milestone event will not only pay tribute to the rich history of the College but will also spotlight the incredible talents of our alumni, many of whom have gone on to become professional dancers performing on prestigious stages around the world.
A Homecoming for Our Alumni
The highlight of the evening will be a series of stunning performances by former graduates who have carved successful careers in dance both nationally and internationally. These talented artists will return to their roots to entertain and celebrate with us, demonstrating the high level of skill and artistry that has become synonymous with the Marie Walton Mahon Dance Academy and the National College of Dance. This unique gathering will provide a rare opportunity to witness the exceptional talents of our alumni, showcasing a blend of classical and contemporary pieces that will leave audiences spellbound.
An Evening of Nostalgia and Inspiration
Our host for the evening will be the multi-talented Chloe Bayliss, a former graduate who has gone on to make a name for herself as an actress, author and performer. Joining her will be Sports Doctor and podcast host, Claudia Lawson, renowned for her insightful podcast Talking Pointes, which delves into the world of ballet and the arts. Their combined passion and knowledge promise to bring a dynamic and engaging presence to the event.
We are also honoured to welcome our founder, Marie Walton Mahon OAM, to the stage as a special guest speaker. Marie’s vision and dedication have been instrumental in shaping the College’s journey and her reflections on the past 50 years will undoubtedly be one of the evening’s most memorable moments. Our current creative team including Jake Burden and Elise Frawley as well as our Current Artistic Director Brett Morgan OAM will share his thoughts on the College’s evolution over the past 15 years.
A Celebration of Talent and Community
Throughout the night, guests will be treated to a series of performances that not only highlight the talents of our alumni but also feature current students and other recognisable faces from the dance world. These performances will be a testament to the enduring legacy of the College and its commitment to fostering a love of dance in each generation of students.
In addition to the performances, the Gala will feature opportunities for guests to reminisce, reconnect and celebrate the friendships and memories that have been made at both Marie Walton Mahon Dance Academy and National College of Dance. The evening will be a blend of nostalgia and forward-thinking inspiration, a testament to the enduring impact that dance has on individuals and communities alike.
